Repertoire's Here Come the 80's collection couldn't be weirder. The first disc, "Big Party of the 80's," is the kind of party that plays Bauhaus ("Ziggy Stardust"), and the second one, "Ultimate Dance Classics of the 80's," is the kind that plays Irene Cara ("Flashdance"). While decidedly European in its particular tastes for what was or wasn't big in the '80s, the compilation succeeds on the very same merits that doom it, mainly diversity. Listeners who long for the days of Men at Work, Kajagoogoo, and Rick Springfield will be left wondering where they were when songs like "Chenko" by Red Box were on the radio, while the outsiders who spent their time in the import sections of their local music stores and weren't afraid to admit that they liked "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood will find Here Come the 80's a real homecoming.
