Heavy Metal Masters Review

by Thom Jurek

It's rather strange to consider who might be the "perfect" buyer for a set like this: do Motörhead fans like Sammy Hagar? Do they like Bruce Dickinson without Iron Maiden, or Tesla or Ministry? Or Living Colour? Well, maybe the latter two. But the strange thing about Heavy Metal Masters is it makes no sense from any direction you look at it. It's wildly inconsistent -- giving you two great tracks by Motörhead is cool -- even if it's two of their best known songs, "Overkill" and "Ace of Spades." The Ministry cut is passable, and the rest? Forget it. The four videos on the DVD disc are Ministry's "Devil in the Details," Biohazard's "Sellout," Queensrÿche's "Desert Dance," and Brides of Destruction's "Shut The F*ck Up." Do yourself a favor and pass this one up.
