On their first album since the band went on hiatus back in 2011, Heavy Fruit finds North Carolina's He Is Legend dabbling with sludge and stoner on their fourth full-length outing. Fully abandoning their metalcore leanings, the album is a more straightforward hard rocker, completing a shift that's been a long time coming for the band. While that means Heavy Fruit might not be quite as hard-hitting as some of their earlier work, it does make for a more even record, and a fine return to active duty and a great debut for new drummer Sam Huff.
