This live release features music from a UFO performance in Oxford, England, recorded almost a decade before the disc's 1995 release. With seven of ten tracks culled from the way below average Misdemeanor, Heaven's Gate plays more like a live version of the lackluster 1985 release than any kind of hits collection. Considering how limited this material is, and the fact that it wasn't particularly well performed or recorded for this release, the appeal is extremely limited. Phil Mogg sounds a little tired, except on the only real UFO hits included, "Doctor Doctor" and "Only You Can Rock Me," which close the show. Fans curious about how UFO sounded live during its Schenker-era pinnacle should check out Strangers in the Night, a live collection that completely outclasses the regrettable Heaven's Gate.
