This guided imagery tape for healing, one of Dr. Emmett Miller's earliest, will remain a classic because of Raphael's background music. Side one, containing Miller's narrative in the second person ("you" suggestions), begins with a general relaxation segment and moves to images of ideal health and changing images of disease patterns, with focus on healing images or sounds. Miller allows the listener to bring in all the senses and always gives an option for the listener to experience the body in whatever form would facilitate healing. The music is especially written to follow the flow of the narrative (in the more intimate moments, no music is used), ending with a victorious choir and a session for relaxation to the sounds of the surf. Joining Raphael are many pioneers of the new age music movement: Sophia (Sande Hershman) on tamboura drone and choir, Tony Marcus on violin and viola, Schawkie Roth on flute and zither, and Lolita on flute. Side two is the music alone -- lovely! -- with more presence given to the vocals and soloists; it's perfect for relaxation and massage, and to bring back images from Miller's guided imagery.
