Young, angry rocker Marion Raven looks a cross between Kate Beckinsale and Katharine McPhee. Sadly, her mini-LP Heads Will Roll presents little aural beauty. The five hard-rocking openers are over-produced into a sticky, meaningless mess that could even cause Avril Lavigne to cringe. Sadly, the acoustic closer is even more painful, with Raven offering teen diary lyrics and kiss-offs worthy of adolescent poets. It's hard to guess what audience might accept the album's sometimes explicit themes and lyrics while also tolerating plastic production and clichéd guitar solos. Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx shares a songwriting credit for the title track, and that's OK for word of mouth, and it doesn't hurt that Raven appears nearly naked in her videos and men's magazine shoots. Are a pretty face and a series of planned wardrobe malfunctions mixed with crass lyrics enough to sell records?
