1990's Headbanger's Hits is a midline-priced collection of decent hard rock, heavy metal, and pop/metal songs from the mid- to late-'80s. It's a joint release from K-tel and CBS Special Products, so it's no surprise that seven of the ten songs included are by CBS artists. The real "find" here is Giuffria's insanely catchy 1984 hit single "Call to the Heart" because this compilation is the only convenient source to find it on CD. "Call to the Heart" is a Journey sound-alike (or rip-off, depending on how harsh of a judge one is) -- vocalist David Glen Eisley is a dead ringer for Steve Perry -- but Gregg Giuffria's keyboard lines and the soaring chorus are irresistible. The other inclusions are Warrant's "Down Boys," Bonham's "Wait for You," Judas Priest's "Turbo Lover," Cinderella's melodramatic ballad "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)," Helix's "Rock You," Alice Cooper's "Poison," Ozzy Osbourne's powerful "Shot in the Dark," Britny Fox's "Girlschool," and Europe's "The Final Countdown" (way off the cheese meter, but terrific fun nonetheless).
