The collector's label IAJRC uncovered some real rarities for this LP. The great tenor Ben Webster is heard accompanying the vocals of Al Hibbler (with some Ellington sidemen) and Walter Brown; the latter also features pianist Jay McShann. "Hayfoot, Strawfoot" is a 1943 aircheck with Duke Ellington's Orchestra, Webster sits in with Raymond Scott's Orchestra for "Powerhouse" and is also showcased on two longer selections apiece with trumpeter Roy Eldridge in 1954 and both McShann and altoist Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson in 1969. Overall the recording quality is good and the solos up to the high level one would expect. Ben Webster fans in particular are advised to search out this LP.
