AllMusic Review by

In 1984, the European Storyville label came out with four LPs featuring the soundtracks of performances filmed in the '40s for soundies. These often primitive three-minute films generally had poor dubbing (the music was recorded before the performances were filmed) so hearing the playing separate from the picture is often superior to seeing the whole film. This second volume has four selections apiece from Fats Waller (including "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Honeysuckle Rose") and Louis Armstrong, and six by Louis Jordan's Tympany Five (highlighted by "Five Guys Named Moe"). A special plus are the typically definitive liner notes of Dan Morgenstern.
