This CD's title is a bit ironic, for violinist Stephane Grappelli and pianist Martial Solal (who are heard on a set of duets), although two of France's finest jazzmen, had only recorded together once before, and that was for a single selection in which they overdubbed their parts. This 1980 studio recording finds Solal reining in his adventurous style a bit so as to offer solid support for Grappelli. They perform six standards, two of Solal's pieces and a free improvisation.
