To celebrate the second birthday party of a German radio station, a jazz party was held and all of the music included on this two-CD set. Because nearly half of the selections have vocals from the okay singer Jeanie Lambe, this release is not as significant as the others from the Nagel-Heyer label. However the swing-oriented performances do feature some fine solos from the octet (which includes trumpeter Randy Sandke, Harry Allen and Danny Moss on tenors, Antti Sarpila on clarinet and tenor, trombonist Jerry Tilitz and pianist Brian Dee. The set is worthwhile but not essential with highpoints including "Stompy Jones," "Stealin' Apples" and "It Don't Mean a Thing."
