Gladys Knight & the Pips recorded several singles for the Fury label in the early '60s, including "Every Beat of My Heart," which was a hit in 1961, before moving on to Motown Records in 1966. This collection pulls together those early sides, showcasing Knight's strong voice and the group's energetic arrangements. These are not, however, the Norman Whitfield-produced songs ("I Heard It Through the Grapevine," etc.) that are most associated with Gladys Knight & the Pips.
