There may be no link between the ten songs on BMG Special Products' Groove Power: The Best of '80s R&B apart from the fact they were recorded in the '80s, but the budget-priced collection remains an entertaining sampler of urban soul, hip-hop and pop hits from the BMG vaults. Some of the songs have dated worse than others, but the best moments on the collection -- Billy Ocean's "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)," Whodini's "Friends," Expose's "Seasons Change," DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince's "Parents Just Don't Understand," the Pointer Sisters' "Automatic" and Aretha Franklin's "Jump to It" -- are enough to make it an enjoyable listen, especially considering its budget price.
