Blue Flame Records' Green Tea: Sencha Mix is a stylistic sequel to 2003's Green Tea: Flavored Atmosphere. Mixed by DJ Red Buddha, the set taps acid jazz and downtempo types like Jazzamor, Christophe Goze, Moodorama, and Moca for a soothing set of beats and breezes. That it's inspired by the soothing powers of green tea is really neither here nor there -- it's your typical chillout compilation. However, the slight Asian influence in the tracks (Lenny Mac Dowell's "Amaterasu," for example) does have a way of suggesting the neon wonderland of Tokyo, or the slick streets and green lighting of a modern Japanese crime caper. Verdict: not essential, but above average for the genre.
