A quick glance at the track listing might give you the impression that this live recording is on the skimpy side, as there are only six tracks included. Further inspection reveals more than one of these tracks to exceed ten minutes in length, though, and this KING BISCUIT recording from an 1978 New York City concert offers plenty of prime B.B. Things get off to a furious start with a breathtaking version of B.B.' s trademark tune "Caldonia," and it's uphill from there, as King is at his most exciting and unreserved here. It doesn't hurt matters that the guitarist is joined by Johnny and Edgar Winter on a fiery version of the blues chestnut "Goin' Down Slow" and by pop-jazz guitar virtuoso George Benson on the epic-length "I Got Some Help I Don't Need." It may not reach the heights of LIVE AT THE REGAL, but this KING BISCUIT album comes dangerously close in terms of live B.B.
