As fans of the film Black Orpheus know, one of the major samba sounds is the drumming and singing of the carnival parades. Here are fine examples of the style from the musicians of one of the major competitors in the Rio carnival. Here the group (which includes two seriously important composers, Wilson Moreira and Nelson Sargento) plays a Saturday-night string-band style with the cavaquinho and guitars very audible. There's also some nice jazz trombone in places.
