Madelin Zero describes her electro-dance sound as "early Madonna meets Kraftwerk," and there's a definite throwback sound to "Gotta Know." The four-minute "album version" of the song that's the basis of this nearly hour-long remix album is a charming piece of early-'80s synth pop with a perky, plinky melody over a Euro-disco beat. Madelin Zero manages to invest lines as daffy as "Even a sippy cup won't stop me from spilling" with a flirty allure, although her overall look and sound is much more Stacey Q than Madonna. While that version of the song is a gem, eight lengthy and not particularly varied remixes will try the patience of all but the most devoted electro-dance fan, although "Gotta Know (Radikal Guitar Mix)" adds a '70s-inspired funk guitar line that works well in the otherwise digital mix and "Gotta Know (Greg Haus Mix)" strips the song down to a minimalist collection of beats.
