While certainly not as hip and cool as those excellent double CD WOW samplers that come out each year showcasing the best in the genre, this fourteen tune collection gives a solid overview of the region where powerful R&B grooves meet a message for the Lord. Neither the liner notes or the credits give the years these tracks are from, but at least a handful date back a few years, because the production of many of the tracks (particularly Philip Bailey's otherwise grand "All Soldiers") is highly synthetic and a tad too cheesy. Best tracks are from well known crossover artists The Winans ("If I Labor") and legend in both genres, Al Green ("Sure Feels Good"). Others culled for this collection are Anointed, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Commissioned, and Helen Baylor.
