AllMusic Review by

Good Old Vintage captures Duke Ellington & His Orchestra between 1942 and 1953 on 20 tracks originally recorded for RCA Victor, Columbia, and Capitol. It's impossible to sum up over five decades of Ellingtoniana with 20 tracks, but this collection provides a decent starting point that includes "Caravan," "Sophisticated Lady," "Creole Love Call," and "Satin Doll." Considering the mass of Ellington material available, Good Old Vintage is a good place to start for casual fans. Bud Music also included an enhanced CD-ROM section containing a biography, discography, jazz time line, and catalog. A nice added touch, but nothing extraordinary.
