AllMusic Review by Heather Phares

The European, two-disc set Gone but Not Forgotten serves up hit singles from the '70s, '80s and early '90s, including the Knack's "My Sharona," the Proclaimers' "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" and Wilson Phillips' "Hold On." Sometimes, the collection's mix of disco, new wave, urban, Europop and bubblegum gets a little too scattered for its own good, but more often than not, it manages to be eclectic instead of schizophrenic. The album actually has a pretty solid body of songs, ranging from the Buggles "Video Killed the Radio Star" to Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music" to Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime." The Vapors' "Turning Japanese," Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come On Eileen," Squeeze's "Cool for Cats," Cameo's "Word Up" and Carl Douglas' "Kung Fu Fighting" are some of the other highlights from this fun, if somewhat random, collection.
