Some small print on the back of Golden Soul Hits, a compilation released on a label called CBUJ, mentions "new stereo recordings and original recordings," but nothing on the packaging indicates what's new and what's original. Almost all of it is new, so the disc isn't even an adequate substitute for a straightforward budget release that strictly consists of original recordings. The new performances here are decent, and devoted fans might enjoy them, but casual fans looking for a straightforward hits compilation will be left unsatisfied. If the label of release doesn't have some stated connection to Sony BMG, avoid it.
