Here is another one of those compilations that are created for some self-serving club to pay tribute to itself and somehow give you a taste of their live experience on a CD. C'mon. It's no doubt that God's Kitchen was the hottest club in Birmingham, and it still might be no matter who you talk to. It's toured everywhere from Australia to Ibiza, and filled itself not only with wanton clubbers, but some of the finest DJs in the world as well -- as well as establishing Tall Paul as a world class mix monger himself. Hell, they even got Boy George to do his first spinning gig there. But let's look at it somewhat objectively, shall we? How are two CDs worth of house-driven ditties gonna give a punter a good look at the experience of an actual, sweaty, lights-flashing, arm-pumping body-writhing club? Ain't gonna happen yobbos. So what's left is to look at the tracks on these two discs, and while there are a few winners here, like Orbital's "Beached," Ralph Fridge's "Angel," the Chemical Brothers' "Music: Response," Timo Maas' "Der Schreiber," Tall Paul's "Free Base," and Sunshine's "Yomanda," there's plenty of drek to fill out the rest: generic Moloko, Ariel, Sandstorm, Starparty, etc. It's too predictable.
