AllMusic Review by

Altoist Lee Konitz has ever since 1951 performed and recorded often in Sweden where his cool-toned sound has long been popular and influential. On this excellent release from the Swedish label Dragon, Konitz is teamed with the fine trumpeter Jan Allan and a good veteran rhythm section from Sweden. There are two originals by pianist Utsava Goran Strandberg and otherwise the tunes are familiar standards including "Lover Man" (taken as a waltz), "A Child Is Born" (a feature for Allan), Konitz's "Hi Beck," "Cherokee" and "Body and Soul." Somehow Lee Konitz never sounds stale and his solos (even on tunes he had been playing for over 30 years) still have a strong amount of curiosity and wonderment in them. His fans will enjoy this fine straightahead session.
