Giants of Jazz: Cool Jazz for Warm Days is a nice budget collection of sunny-spirited jazz that moves from bossa nova to bop and swing. While some cuts are up-tempo, the overriding aesthetic is laid-back and mellow. Included are such summer-ready tunes as guitarist Grant Green's "Samba de Orpheus," guitarist Pat Martino's atmospheric "Dreamsville," and vibraphonist Johnny Lytle's funky version of "Little Sunflower."
