AllMusic Review by

Evoking the spirit of the singing cowboy and mixing Western swing -Bob Wills-style -- with a traditional country and old fashion rock & roll sensibility, Wylie's brand of music is as wide open as the Northern plains of Montana, the state from which he hails. Fans of the late Marty Robbins will delight in the heartfelt homage Wylie pays his musical hero, by including two of Robbins' classics: "Devil Woman" and "I'm Gonna Be a Cowboy." Wylie's original tunes are also shadowed by Robbins' influence. Check out the Spanish-flavored "Hey Maria." A guest spot by Merle Haggard on the humorous ode to rejection "Ugly Girl Blues" is lots of fun and "Too Late," co-written by the Mavericks' Raul Malo is truly great rockabilly.
