This is neither a fully representative compilation nor a straight reissue from Walter "Wolfman" Washington's small discography, but a decent cross-section of some well known recordings and many compositions from this underappreciated bluesman from Louisiana. Several of these tracks are taken from the Best of New Orleans Rhythm & Blues, Vol. 2 CD fro the Mardis Gras label. Included are his songs "It's Rainin' in My Life," "You Got Me Worried," a famous take on Otis Redding's "Nobody's Fault But Mine," Bill Doggett's "Honky Tonk," and his signature tune "Get on Up," replete with his dog howls and whistles. Washington's good-time, funky R&B groove is present throughout, as well as his vocal style, which is very close to that of Little Milton. With very few Wolfman Washington recordings in the world, this is a good choice and one to search for.
