AllMusic Review by

Using their cross-licensing touch, the folks at Hip-O gather together some diverse musical bedfellows to tip the hat to the mighty Gershwin song catalog with this entry. This 18-track collection features George and Ira's material interpreted by usual suspects like Ella Fitzgerald "(Soon"), Bing Crosby ("Somebody Loves Me"), Mel Tormé ("Nice Work If You Can Get It," "Isn't It a Pity"), movie stars like Lena Horne ("Someone to Watch Over Me") and Judy Garland ("Swanee") and jazzers like Benny Goodman ("Oh, Lady Be Good"), Billie Holiday ("Embraceable You") and Chet Baker ("But Not For Me"). Selections from Michael Feinstein, Diana Krall, Ray Charles, Jack Jones, Rosemary Clooney and two from Johnny Hartman complete this wonderful little set.
