This set has plenty of spirit. Clarinetist George Lewis is in tune this time around and the primitive but perfectly fitting percussive playing of cornetist Fred Vigorito and trombonist Big Bill Bissonnette work well. The Easy Riders Jazz Band were Bissonnette's group and they loved the ensemble-oriented New Orleans jazz of Lewis. The live set is not flawless by any means, but there is certainly plenty of life and excitement to the music. Highlights include "Jambalaya," "I Shall Not Be Moved," "Just a Little While to Stay Here," and "St. Louis Blues."
