AllMusic Review by

Although the early '30s found popular music dominated by commercial dance orchestras and mundane singers, there were some exceptions. The recordings of Gene Kardos' orchestra are certainly exceptions, for the group is surprisingly heated throughout most of the performances on this CD (all but two of which date from 1932). None of the soloists are too well-known (trombonist Pete Salemi comes the closest), but the band is quite strong, with exciting ensembles and purposeful solos. Dick Robertson has harmless vocals on most of the numbers, and the many highlights include "Business in F," "Some of These Days," "Business in Q," "Dinah," and "How'm I Doin'." Hot jazz from an obscure but worthy ensemble.
