A blatant attempt to cash in on the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy craze, Gay Style for the Straight Life: Perfect Brunch doesn't really have much to do with style or gay lifestyles, but it is a pleasant-enough collection of piano-based instrumentals of standards such as "Night and Day," "It Had to Be You," and "My Funny Valentine." While there's nothing particularly spectacular about the album, its performances are refreshingly understated. Other highlights include "Stardust," "Moon River," and "Embraceable You." Despite its silly name, Gay Style for the Straight Life: Perfect Brunch would indeed be an appropriately elegant but unobtrusive soundtrack for a brunch or any other casually stylish get-together.
