Whenever a DJ album overtly tags itself as both a house and trance mix, it's a fairly safe presumption that it's going to be a generic and dumbed-down listen. And, unsurprisingly, that's indeed the case with DJ Garfield's Garfield Signatures. The South Beach, FL, by way of Nottingham, England, DJ no doubt delivers the goods here, dropping mostly European fare, with a heavier emphasis on trance than the more progressive side of house. Still, that's precisely the reason why this ends up being a rather lackluster mix. Garfield isn't really doing anything inventive with this mix. He's merely spinning a handful of Euro-style tracks that only seem novel because he spins them in FL. Whatever the case, he doesn't spin anything here that really stands out, and doesn't accomplish much in the course of this album's 12 tracks. Nonetheless, if you're not looking for anything novel but rather have an insatiable taste for obscure Euro-trance, this mix should please you.
