Cheap and brief, Instinct's Funk It! compiles only tracks, many of which won't be familiar to those looking for a decent entry route into funk. That's because this has more to do with acid jazz groups that cut their teeth on rare groove compilations, though a couple of funk legends can be heard as well. Some of the tracks featured here include Bobby Byrd's "Never Get Enough," the Poets of Rhythm's "Funky Runthrough, Pts. 1 & 2," Lee Armstrong Express' "Chicken'n Waffles," the Whitfield Brothers' "The Donkey," Bo Baral's "Funky Sex Machine," and Human Body's "Hey Mama."
