Combining their love of Americana and roots music with a deep electro-pop aesthetic, Los Angeles quintet Grizfolk deliver their Virgin Records debut, the four-song EP From the Spark. Led by singer/songwriter and Florida native Adam Roth, the band plays a kind of open-road folk-pop that is augmented by the crafty electronics of bandmates/producers Sebastian Fritze and Fredrik Eriksson, both of whom relocated to L.A. from Sweden. The EP features "The Struggle," a song that initially won the band regional acclaim, eventually leading to the record deal with Virgin. Falling somewhere between the dusty vistas of Blitzen Trapper and the desert bombast of the Killers, Grizfolk's collaborative spirit offers a unique take on modern American pop.
