From the furious bass-prominent political anthem "America" (which recalls the spirit of vintage New Model Army and Killing Joke) to the fierce quirky bite of "My Johnson" (itself a nod to Gang of Four), one gets the sense that Feverdream have an attitude and they're gonna use it. And Freeze! works the bulk of the time, even if the original musical ideas are scant. From the thumping post-punk rant "Adapt 'Till You Snap" to the hopped-up "More Than a Theme" -- which owes much to Fugazi -- the results are solid. Not so for "4 Times Lucky 7 Makes a Man the Man," which is plagued by a tinny mix that even Feverdream's emotional and evocative playing can't seem to salvage.
