AllMusic Review by

If you only want one album of very obscure mid-'60s British rock, you're best advised to track this down. "Freakbeat" is the compilers' term for the brand of British rock that was produced circa 1965-1967, when the initial impetus of the Merseybeat and R&B bands gave way to wilder mod, power pop, and early psychedelic sounds. None of these groups "made it" to any degree, but the tuneful crunch (often embellished with distorted guitars) of acts like the Buzz, the Game, Southern Sound, and Fleur de Lys will appeal to anyone who digs the sounds of vintage Who, Yardbirds, and Pretty Things.
