This is what home-recorded, do-it-yourself albums are all about. Deluxx is Mark Perretta on guitars, vocals, and tape loops, and Bob Fay on drums and vocals. They recorded over a two-and-a-half-year period, and assembled the result into an album after the fact. Nothing fits with lo-fi better than more lo-fi, so it works as a seamless whole. Credits even note "live tracks recorded on Bob's Walkman," which you can certainly believe.
Lyrics are impossible to decipher, but occasionally leap out or are alluded to by their titles. The opening number, "Caught Ya Fartin'" uses Spirit's durable "I Got a Line on You" riff to fine effect. Since none of this material is crying out for higher studio gloss of any sort, it's a winning combination of form and content.
