Jackie Cain and Roy Kral have been together since the late '40s, performing music that pleases their many fans. Based originally in bebop, Jackie & Roy have always been jazz-oriented, even when their repertoire and arrangements wander a bit into other styles. On this CD, they mostly perform veteran standards plus a few newer tunes (Annie Ross' sappy "Music Is Forever," "Kral"'s "Through the Windows of Cars," Cain's "Fred Astaire," and "You Didn't Tell Me It Was Wrong."The two singers with Kral on piano are joined by a rhythm section and on some selections four horns, a string quartet, and a few guest soloists. Best are "The Duke," "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most," "The Continental," and "I Know That You Know." One of Jackie & Roy's better recordings of the 1990s.
