There are dozens of compilations floating around with the same scope as Forever Gold: R&B Ballads. The disc brings nothing new to the table, and it includes songs that you've likely heard hundreds of times over. However, it's hard to knock it completely when each song included is a classic that never gets old. As with the majority of the R&B compilations released by St. Clair, there's a big chunk of Philly soul, including the Delfonics' "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)," Harold Melvin's "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love," Billy Paul's "Me and Mrs. Jones," and the Trammps' "You Make Me Feel Brand New." Some of the non-Philadelphians represented: Marvin Gaye ("Let's Get It On"), the Miracles ("Second That Emotion"), Percy Sledge ("Try a Little Tenderness").
