AllMusic Review by Jason Ankeny

The musical culture of the Quechua and Aymara Indians forms the basis of Flutes & Strings of the Andes, an illuminating collection of material that's both beautiful and strangely eerie. The music has an intensity all its own, with each song a unique panorama of sounds including the charango (a stringed instrument made from an armadillo shell), the tarka (a ceremonial mouthpiece flute) and the pinkullu and quena (both end-blown flutes) in addition to the more common violin and percussion.
