Like its predecessor, Flick Hits, Take 2 is a compilation of classic '70s soul hits that were prominently featured in movies, particularly films from the 1996 and 1997. Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown, in particular, is used as source material, since it used nothing but '70s soul on the soundtrack -- three selections from the soundtrack are included here: Minnie Riperton's "Inside My Love," Bobby Womack's "Across 110th Street" and the Delfonics' "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)." There are also two songs from Paul Thomas Anderson's epic Boogie Nights, War's "Spill the Wine" and Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing," which was also used in the sleeper comedy hit The Full Monty. Other featured songs include Al Green's "You Ought to Be with Me" (from Love Jones), Tavares' "More Than a Woman" (from Saturday Night Fever), the Impresssions' "Keep On Pushing" (from Dead Presidents), Booker T. & the MG's' "Soul Dressing (from Sling Blade) and the Soul Survivors' "Expressway to Your Heart" (from Strip Tease). Although these 12 songs come from a variety of movies, they share a similiar sound and era, and that's why the compilation holds together so well, making for quite entertaining listening.
