The non-commercial Fever Single Remix promotional single contains the original 1958 recording of "Fever" by Peggy Lee and two remixes done by the Italian duo Gabin (Filippo Clary and Max Bottini), the first a four-minute version also included on the Lee album The Best of the Singles Collection and the second an otherwise unavailable long version running close to six minutes. As usual, the term "remix" is a misnomer, since Gabin has taken the basic recording and added other instruments and various filters and sound effects. The team's approach has not been to update the 45-year-old track, but rather to make it, if anything, sound older. There is considerable added surface noise, and the vocal, previously clear and up-front, has become watery and heavily echoed, with the finger snaps replaced by a trashy rhythm track and a recurring two-note horn part. None of this is an improvement on the original, which sounds fresh in comparison.
