The ReBirth Brass Band made their first major impression with this album, which outlined their diverse influences and varied menu. They did classic numbers ("You Rascal You"), extensive, infectious originals ("Mexican Special"), updated vintage R&B ("I'm Walkin'" and "Big Chief"), and recent urban contemporary fare ("Shake Your Body"). They performed everything with flair and a disciplined yet loose and enthusiastic playing style that didn't highlight any single musician and gave the ensemble ample room to display its talents. The group's later releases were more exacting in their arrangements and solos; this one successfully laid the foundation for what they've been building since their formation.
