Prepare to be richly blessed. Jason Upton releases one of the most intense and poignant praise & worship projects to arise from the genre. With Faith, Upton covers many spiritual topics, from faith to freedom to sacrifice. This is a disc that literally permeates the pores with musically soaked praise and lyrically packed awe for God. The disc's grandeur is perpetuated by the spontaneity of the instrumentalists and especially lyrically, where Upton's passion leads listeners to believe the Holy Spirit is completely leading him. The title track is powerful. With a cacophony of sounds, the cut utilizes guitars and drums to build at mid-song while the lyrics create a fervor. Within the tune, Upton manages to emotionally take the listener up the mountain and, at song's end, back to the valley. Utilizing the potency of violins, "Freedom" creates the mood of all-out adulation. Upton's improvisational skills and backup vocalists help to create a spiritually memorable track. Throughout the release, Upton unleashes a flurry of spiritual lyrics as solid as a rock. The tunes here are soaked in God's word and void of any self-promotion. Through his lyrics, Upton indicates several times that dependence on God is necessary and that dependence on the self is fruitless. Faith is a truly inspirational ride through the best of praise & worship. It's obvious that Jason Upton plays music for the purpose of honoring his creator. This release is a testimony of it.
