Throughout this set, trumpeter Natsuki Tamura often uses electronics on his instrument. When mixed in with Satoko Fujii's synthesizer, Takayuki Kato's guitar, and drummer Ryojiro Furusawa, the results are a little reminiscent soundwise of fusion while actually being quite free. The five originals on Exit form a lengthy suite full of sound explorations. The tones are often colorful even if the music tends to wander and does not necessarily fit the song titles. None of these Japanese players are household names in America (Satoko Fujii comes the closest), but they are all talented improvisers. Exit is only of occasional interest and lacks much development, even during the 26-minute "Eliminate," but one looks forward to these musicians' future explorations.
