Like the Orb's nasty, atonal, ground-wired Pomme Fritz, While's Even sacrifices pleasant melody for a series of belligerently disparate electronic elements. In "Chase," high-pitched pianos meet deep steel beats and an almost overwhelming crunched-up rhythm pattern. Fans of Frank Cochois' JFC project or any of Plaid's later material would enjoy this, especially when the template reappears in the album's stronger tracks, "Level" and "Moth." For others, the album's production often forgets to bring the proper cerebral intensity.
