Six fine Canadian musicians teamed together for this swing-oriented set. The late tenor saxophonist Fraser MacPherson helps keep the "Four Brothers" Lester Young sound alive, Jim Galloway adds a bit of trad on soprano and baritone, pianist Oliver Jones recalls Oscar Peterson a bit as usual, Ed Bickert supplies some cool-toned guitar solos, and bassist Dave Young and drummer Terry Clarke are excellent in support. The sextet plays such joyful swing tunes as "The Jeep Is Jumpin'," Al Cohn's "P-Town," Hoagy Carmichael's "Judy," and "Things Ain't What They Used to Be." The musicians all play up to their usual levels, making this a set of strong interest to mainstream swing fans.
