Another solid helping of psycho-funk from a band led by the mysterious Del. More dance music than jazz, the very cooooool guitar-drenched tones, supported by a beat that can't be beat and lyrics that spoof as much as treat, should keep your party singin' and swingin'. As the song ("The Boom Boom Room") says: "We beat the blues, yea, we beat the blues. The Boom Boom feeling good. So, shake it up, shake it up. You gotta slip, slip, slip on thru. Slip on down to the Boom Boom Room." You'll hear a solo or two that you might like, on baritone saxophone or flute, but by and large it is the Boom Boom that you will remember. Jazzer David Schumacher helped write some of the tunes and added some arrangements of the horns, and all the drums and guitars make their mark. But you probably need to be at the party to really get the groove.
