AllMusic Review by

Essential Music Videos: Extraordinary Women features some of the biggest female voices of the 1980s and 1990s and the songs that made them mainstream favorites. Toronto songstress Alannah Myles earned her biggest hit in the States in 1989 with "Black Velvet." Her Canadian counterpart k.d. lang hung up her spurs and suede several years later for the seductive crooning of "Constant Craving," making lang well known in both the adult contemporary pop and indie rock markets. Sixpence None the Richer's love song "Kiss Me," which featured cameos from the cast of Dawson's Creek, put them on the mainstream map in 1997. Additional videos from Natalie Merchant, Veruca Salt's Nina Gordon, and Sinéad O'Connor complete this collection.
