Concert harpist and spiritual sound healer Joel Andrews records Essence with the inspiration of flowers, particularly the healing energies of the flower essences (i.e., the Bach Flower Remedies); and the album was conceived with the cooperation of the Flower Essence Society as a project for Mother's Day. On this album, Andrews' music is very liquid (as are the essences), with swirling glissandi or single notes dropping still as the dew--breathtaking in its peacefulness on "Rainbow of Flowers." One can easily imagine caressing every petal in the warming garden. "Golden Poppy" begins pensively, almost as delicate as the petal's hold on the thin stem. Andrews then brisks up the pace and paints the music in richer tones more befitting the robust orange color of the flower. This piece is like basking in the sun.
