With Chuck Greenberg at the helm and two other original members on board, Esperanto marks a spirited return for this world music band. Shadowfax resurfaces after two years on the Earthbeat label, and doesn't miss a step. Greenberg's lyricon, sax and flutes wind in and out, with Phil Maggini on bass and Stu Nevitt on drums and an array of percussion. There is Armen Chakmanian on keyboards and synths, plus guest artists L. Subramanian on violin and the amazing Emil Richards on exotic percussion. Shadowfax occasionally dips into pedestrian waters on Esperanto but stays above the surface often enough on their ninth album to deliver one of their most accessible releases.
